If you are reading this, chances are that you are very, very lucky and living in a highly developed country - it is statistically likely that you are in the United States. We, the lucky one's, are in a position to effect great change in the world. We are entering an era where things will be global, not local. Where unheard of acts of violence are being heard. Victims have a voice. Oceans no longer separate us. There are women who need us. Below you will find links to organizations who are reaching out to make changes. To make life better, or even just tolerable for women who are being abused, mutilated, ostracized from society, for no other reason than that they are women. You can help a girl by buying her a cow or a chicken, elevating her from poor, and possibly preventing her family from selling her into prostitution. You can connect directly with a woman who desperately needs to know that there is still beauty and hope in the world because it is likely that she will never see it herself. You can sign a petition to help women in Afghanistan - women who are not women but only the property of their fundamentalist oppressors. Don't ever think that you can't help because you're so far away and powerless... you have the power.
